Lisa Shaw

Lisa Shaw, Director

Lisa Shaw serves as the Director of the Academic Center for Excellence. She has worked at CSU since 1998 in the capacity of student advising. Lisa adores her pets and enjoys SEC football and playing golf.


Melissa Young, Assistant Director & Dual Enrollment Coordinator

Melissa Young, M.Ed. holds an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Education from Chaminade University of Honolulu. She is currently enrolled as a doctoral candidate at Columbus State University. She has worked in higher education as a program coordinator, advisor and adjunct instructor for over 12 years. Her research interests include best practices in academic advising, instructional technology in online programs, retaining first generation college students and the impact of socioeconomic background on student success. Hobbies include gardening, horseback riding, and gaming.


Tammy Baxter

Tammy Baxter, Academic Advisor & Retention Specialist

 Undeclared and Early College

Tammy Baxter is a newcomer to Columbus State. She brings with her a background in Social Work with an emphasis in Intercultural Studies. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her new husband and her dog, Jack. She has guided three daughters through the college-going process, and will someday do the same for her granddaughter.

Kelly Koch

Kelly Koch, Academic Advisor & Retention Specialist

Kelly Koch is an alumna of Columbus State University. She received her B.A. in English Language and Literature, with a Concentration in Professional Writing in December 2007. During her undergraduate career, she received the 2006 Professional Writing Major of the Year award. Kelly began her career at CSU as an undergraduate tutor in the Writing Center during the summer of 2005. She began working with the Academic Advising Center (now ACE) in January 2008 as an administrative assistant. She began working as an Academic Advisor in December 2011. In her free time, Kelly enjoys spending time with her family, photography, scrapbooking, bargain shopping/couponing, reading, and watching movies.


Joseph Sawyer

Joseph Sawyer, Academic Advisor & Retention Specialist

Biology and General Studies/Core Curriculum Associates 
Military Liaison/eCore Advisor

Joseph Sawyer is a graduate of Columbus State University. He began his professional career at TSYS in 2004. Joseph joined CSU as an Academic Advisor and Retention Specialist in July of 2013. Joseph also serves as a liaison for military members stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia.



Julie Lassalle, Academic Advisor & Retention Specialist

 Sociology, History, Political Science, Modern and Classical Languages, Math, Liberal Arts

Julie Lassalle received her B.A. in Psychology from Millsaps College and M.A. Education, Higher Education and Student Affairs from Virginia Tech. Prior to joining the ACE staff as an Academic Advisor and Retention Specialist in 2015, Julie worked in Residence Life, Fraternity & Sorority Life, and Student Involvement at various institutions in the southeast. In her spare time, Julie enjoys reading, photography, spending time with family, and traveling.


 Alisha Miles

Alisha Miles, Academic Advisor & Retention Specialist

Psychology and Criminal Justice

Alisha Miles is an alumna of Columbus State University receiving her Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems in 2002. She also received her Master of Public Administration from Troy University in 2010. In addition to her education, Alisha has over 7 years experience in undergraduate/graduate admissions and academic advising from Troy University and LaGrange College. In her spare time, Alisha enjoys 

crafting, spending time with family, and traveling.



Christopher Holloway, Academic Advisor & Retention Specialist

Chris is a newcomer to the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE). He received his B.A. in Secondary English Education from Georgia State University in 2010. He brings in over 4 years of undergraduate advising experience in the private sector and is excited to begin his work with the student body at CSU. Chris has a passion for writing, music, and spending time with family.


 Jay Davis

 Jay Davis, Academic Advisor & Retention Specialist

Dual Enrollment Advisor 

Jay Davis is an alumna of Columbus State University where he received a BA in English/Language and Literature. In addition to his education, Jay has over 8 years experience at CSU in undergraduate admissions and recruitment. He has 4 kids, 2 dogs, loves sport,s and has a passion for playing guitar.



Kristi Rosengrant, Academic Advisor & Retention Specialist 

Kristi, is alumna from Georgia Southern University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Science with an emphasis in Family Services. She has been with Admission for the past five years. When she is out of the office you can count on her to be on an adventure because she loves to travel. She enjoys spending time with her family and her dog.



Nadya Perkins, Academic Advisor & Retention Specialist

 Nadya Perkins is an alumna of Auburn University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Education in School Counseling. In addition to her education, Nadya brings over four years of post-secondary experience rooted in student support and advocacy. In her spare time, she enjoys crafting, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends, and dog, Marley.



Randalette Williams, Gear Up Georgia Program Coordinator 

Randalette L. Williams is an alumna of Valdosta State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health & Physical Education. She continued her education at Troy State University where she earned both a Master of Science degree and Educational Specialist degree in Counseling and Human Development. Making the transition after twenty-three years of experience in elementary education to higher education has been an exciting one for her. She assumes the position of Gear Up Georgia Site Coordinator for the University which is housed in the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) Department. In her spare time, Randalette enjoys volunteering in the community and spending time with her husband and three children.
